I have been wanting to do this since we moved into this house and finally I did it! I am thrilled with how it turned out. I love the look of wood floors, but we could not afford them and what if you have a leak from the frig or the dishwasher? There go your real wood floors. This was pretty easy and inexpensive. I needed about 7-8 boxes that are $30/each. Compare that to real wood. They're fake and I love them. I just laid them right over the old linoleum. I started on Saturday morning...then took a break and went to my daughter's soccer game that night. My throat started killing me and I was only half way done. I tried to finish on Sunday...and still have about a 1/4 to go. So in between me and 1 daughter being sick = unfinished floor. The other side of the kitchen is complete chaos...like 14 tornadoes hit it...actually my whole house looks like that, but I have a cute kitchen floor!

These look really nice, is it a linoleum or is it actual planks of fake wood?
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWord of caution... I put the peel and stick faux wood in my bath and the water from the kids splashing in the tub made them lift right up. So b/c with water still!

Love it! We have Pergo in most of our home and it's fantastic! My DH and BIL installed a floating fake wood floor in my MIL's yesterday it looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteLooks great!
ReplyDeleteWe had plans to put those in our home, but after living with our linoleum for 2 years, we decided to wait until my little ones are a little older. Even then, I don't think I could bear to get real wood - that's for empty nesters.
ReplyDeleteLove it - I have been wanting to do this in my great room, but would never have thought you could do it over old flooring. this is affordable...hmm....will get more info from you soon. :)
ReplyDeleteOk, we're totally having coffee at your house now. I'm officially inviting myself, even though you did ask :) I HAVE to see these floors in person! They look fabulous!

ReplyDeleteI have seen this several places lately. It looks great! What brand did you use?
ReplyDeleteWow, they look great--I am deciding if I want to do them in my basement we are finishing. Hubby is worried they will be too cold in the basement. I am thinking practical.
ReplyDeleteLooks great, Kristi! Great solution for a budget.
ReplyDeleteIt adds so much warmth! We were finally able to put hardwood throughout our downstairs and we love it ... even in the bathroom (with four kids!)
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't go back. Yours looks wonderful and I am so impressed you have done all this work yourself ;)
I too am curious as to what brand you used. I need new flooring but want to go with a laminate or hardwood...but cost may be an issue...
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful
Your floors look great!! I love them!!

ReplyDeleteJen
you did great!!!Looks like a pro did it..and the room looks amazing!!!
ReplyDeletelove your floors. i'm showing hubby the picture when he gets home. been wanting to do this in our home awhile now. love the way yours turned out.
ReplyDeleteIs it laminate? We had that in our condo and it's so durable. We have real wood floors in our house now and I like the laminate better.
ReplyDeleteGreat job with the floors. When we bought our home we found hardwoods throughout the whole house. We just had to rip up all the old rug and padding, remove 1000's of staples with needle nose pliers and then have them refinished. Lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteI have really enjoyed your blog. So many beautiful things and wonderful projects.

I would love to know what kind of flooring, the peel n stick kind like your laundry room? Brand and where did you purchase? Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteDo tell what brand and color you used and where did you purchase? Looks FAB!
ReplyDeleteWell it looks WONDERFUL! Found you via Beauty and Bedlam and look forward to saying HI in person at Blissdom : )
ReplyDeleteThat looks amazing! I just heart your dining room, the furniture, the mirror! I would be happy with your linoleum! Ours is so gross and ucky! We live in a rental and I think the kitchen flooring is from when the house was built, in 1984! Can't wait till we own, then I can change whatever I want!! :-) Congrats again on a beautiful make-over!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so much brighter! Very nice!
ReplyDeleteWOW, look at how pretty your room is! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThese floors look amazing! I'm going to try your slipcover tutorial. I really hope I don't screw up some good fabric! Love your blog by the way and I'm adding you to my blogroll!
ReplyDeleteIts fantastic, fake floors can do like an original. Thank you for sharing this article...
ReplyDeleteWe put this stuff down in our garage and i just love it. I love the way it looks in your house. I have yet to see it in an open space like yours- and i must say. Its next to impossible to tell
ReplyDeleteThis one looks good. I really like this one. Gotta try this fake woods.
ReplyDeleteso...wondering your thoughts on an UNEVEN floor....we have a raised floor in the basement to avoid moisture problems. The floors are a little uneven in some places due to some half ripped up old linoleum....
ReplyDeleteI was thinking this would would work, but someone pointed out that it might be tough with the patching flooring thats already there? Thoughts...after living it with it since 2009???
