Who Says?

kitchen re-do

Who says you can't re-do your kitchen days before your family comes for Christmas? Not me. This is how it looked before. I used that gorgeous Taupe/Robin fabric to make these fake roman shades. Then I moved the dining room set into the kitchen. I'm turning the dining room into an office/library...because in a year and a half of living there, we.have.never. eaten in there. This set is a little more traditional, but I love the way it looks. The paint color you ask? Don't. I have no idea. I mixed light khaki with some dark gray and added some chocolate color and came out with this.

kitchen re-do

I had left over board and batten from my Master bedroom re-do and slapped it up. The wall you see is the largest wall in the whole entire kitchen...so it didn't take much. I somehow think I'm going to slipcover 2 club chairs before Thursday, but I think I'd rather make cookies with my girlies. Maybe the slipcover fairy will come? What did you re-do last minute?

  4. Love everything about this - I love how black always adds a touch of drama and modern flair; and I'm a sucker for a zebra stripe!

  6. Oh I love it! It all looks great. Love your shades. I do the same thing with paint. I joke all of the time that I have a paint store upstairs, and I just mix until I come up with something that I like. If I like the results a lot, I take it to my local Sherwin Williams and have them match and make more of what I have mixed together lol. Love that zebra print too.

  7. The room looks amazing. We did the same thing about a year ago - gave up the biggest room which is the dining room and I took it as the studio space. It is now used every day instead of maybe 10 days a year. Of course we just moved the dining room to the front sitting room which never got used either- so it sits. Trying to work out a way to make an eat in area at the far end of the kitchen so we can get rid of the "dining room" all together. Just not a dining room kind of family.

  10. I LOVE your dining set. It's exactly the color I've love mine to be someday (it's currently honey colored)...but I doubt that someday will be before Christmas. :( Until then it's all mismatched wood but man is that a pretty little table you got there!
