My youngest turned 8 last week. I sent out evite invitations 3 days before the party. I know...birthday faux pas. My excuse is that I was in California the week before and truth be told...I'm not a very good planner. My friend's know this and love me anyway. I didn't run out and buy a bunch of decorations...just used what I had. She wrote Happy Birthday on our chalkboard.
I set up this portable table and threw some fabric over it. I hotglued the pink pom pom trim to each corner and called it a day. I did spend money on the food and paper products. Oh! and those tissue paper pom poms. A buck each for those babies. I wish I could leave them there all year to hide that ugly TV hole. I, also, used two pennant banner's, that I already had, for decorating.
I made homemade pizza. When I took it out of the oven, it slid off on the oven door and folded in half like a taco. Just slid it back on the pan and unfolded it. Those girl's were none the wiser.

Get your party on. I put brown craft paper over my coffee table for the nail station. Do you see my chair over there with the white throw over it...because it's been sitting in my house for about a year AND I still haven't made a slipcover for it. Like the shoe maker's kid's without any shoes.

We had a painting contest. Guess what I made them paint? YEP...a cow! I figured I could find my Artist and commission her to do that larger canvas I want so badly!

Of course nails had to be done. The older siblings helped with the younger ones while I watched. NOT one nail...did I paint.
I love this idea and stole it from Lindsey. The girl's and dad had fun with this!

We're not big cake eater's in our family. The Birthday Girl asked for Chocolate Chip Cookie Brownies with Ganache Frosting. I aim to please!

You did a great job and you kept it real.
ReplyDeleteThis is a lesson for us all-
my 3 daughters are all grown , but I always tend to 'overdo' if you know what I mean.
I loved the pizza/taco part!

I think your house has a bit of a happy vibe as is, it really doesn't need much dressing up! Looks like the girls had a great time.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful party!
ReplyDeletelooks so yummy! hope she had the best 8th birthday ever!!
ReplyDeleteSo cute. These are our favorite kind of birthday parties around here (use what you have and homemade goodies to eat)! Love the frame idea. The best part is that everyone looks relaxed and like they're having fun. :)
ReplyDeleteHomemade pizza. You ARE ambitious! Can I come to your next party?
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect girly event you throw.
Hope you had a good California vacation.
HAPPY BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRTHDAY, SKYLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!
ReplyDeleteThe party looks like it was a success. I have to tell you, your pizza dough recipe is the bomb.
ReplyDeleteWe use it at least once a week! Thanks for that!
Also I love the slip covered couch and your white curtains/drapes.....where did you find them??
If that's a thrown together party, then I'm feeling really pathetic! I used to be so good at planning, and gradually with each child, it's become less and less. And the thing is, they don't even know the difference. You have a beautiful home! :)
ReplyDeleteI’ve just stumbled upon your lovely blog. I look forward to popping by again for some more inspiration! I'm just new into blogging this year & have put together a daily blog on design, fashion, food, travel and anything pretty.
