Flabbergasted by this fantastic geometric ottoman slip from Westhampton DIY! I am astonished by anyone who can make lines or blocks go in the same direction! Love it!

An English Flat

bathroom door

I did not take my Nikon...just a little pocket camera. I found out I'm spoiled and I LOVE my Nikon and missed it very much. How cute is this little vacant sign? When you lock the door, it says "ENGAGED." Adorable!

bathroom

What's not to love about board and batten...unfinished wood doors...

clawfoot tub

and a clawfoot tub? I was dying over this bathroom...so stinkin' cute!

kitchen

Yes, I believe those are IKEA cabinets and butcher block counter top. Even though, English refrigerators are not as large as ours...they make up for it in retro cuteness!

coat hooks

Hallway hooks and stairway to the right. I'm not going to steal all my friend's thunder. She's going to be starting a blog about her adventures in the U.K. When she gets it up and running, I'll let you know. Won't it be fun to live vicariously through her?!

cute shop

She and I took a day and went shopping and eating and stumbled onto this store. My heart started palpitating. I bought some adorable souvenirs and myself a "Cath Kidston" bag!
Tomorrow I'll tell you some ways we can inject a little "English" into our own homes!

A quick jaunt to Newcastle, England

Newcastle, England

I went on a quick trip to England to help my girlfriend with her kids. Her hubs was already there for work and she needed another set of eyes and some extra hands. They are living in the cutest place and I'll have pictures of there new flat tomorrow. Just wanted to give yall a quick update and let you know I didn't fall off the face of the earth. I ate a lot of food and drank a lot of tea! I'm off to go find an electric tea kettle right now and I think I may try to make this yummy pain au chocolate. I mean...seriously...what's NOT good about chocolate wrapped in a croissant? I just used "yall" and "flat" in the same paragraph.

Gray Tray Transformation

gray tray transformation

Easy Tray Transformation! What you'll need:

  • ugly tray
  • 1 can of Krylon gray primer spray paint
  • 1 can of Krylon gray gloss spray paint
  • stencil from Jones Design Company
  • white paint pen
First, I scraped the gorgeous leopard picture off with a razor, then sanded the inside just a bit. Taped the handles and sprayed the primer on. Then I sprayed the gray paint on. I shrunk the stencil to a smaller size and printed it on cardstock, then traced it onto the tray with a pencil. I used my white paint pen to trace over it and that was it! Super easy!

Countertop Diaries

aprairiecottage.blogspot.com
Kitchen by Prairie Cottage...swoon!

I would paint my countertops in a heartbeat if they were laminate, but they're not. They're Corian and they're UGLY and I'm petrified the paint will peel off in sheets. I kept reading of people getting their counters painted for a few hundred dollars, so I thought I'd give it a whirl and get a professional to do it.

kitchen counters

So I got a couple of estimates.
I called one company called Amazing Refinishers. He was professional did his measurements, went to his car and came back with a written quote for $777.00 I thought that was a lot for some paint, but maybe I'm just a cheap diy'er...which is the probability.

Then I called
Miracle Method...who I had a bit of a time with. One guy came out and said it'd be around $1000 however he never sent me a written quote. Then another guy called a couple of weeks later and said he would come back out for another quote. He eyeballed my kitchen and said that it would be $1460. He didn't pull out the first measuring tape so I'm not sure what went into his quote but for $1460, I might as well invest in granite...but I'm not. I'm still researching...maybe I'll find some slabs of granite laying on the side of the road.

*Disclaimer: I'm sorry if you have my same countertops. If it's worth anything, my mom and sister love my countertops. I wish they'd come steal them.

Wing Chair Slipcover

Jones wing chair

I had this fabric left over and used it for a client. She loved it! Thankfully! The name of the fabric is Premier Prints Barber Taupe/Robin.

wing chair slipcover

I love a before and after picture...so dramatic! I'm still searching for a place for our slipcover class...apparently everyone in America is getting married and has showers booked every Saturday until July. I mean we could do it in the middle of the week...NOT! I'll find a place...promise. Are you working on a slipcover or do you want to?
