Another Turquoise Dresser

turquoise dresser

I finally re-painted this dresser. It was a gorgeous green with a distressed glaze. And I went and monked it all up! So I slapped some turquoise on it and distressed the edges.

I love this picture...it's of my grandparents at a party or dance. My grandfather is in the middle with his arms around my grandmother {on the left} and another friend. Some word art...using scrabble tiles. I found a box of cards at TJ MAXX and framed this one.

I found these knobs when I was in California...Heart them! I have to be careful to not start slapping turquoise on everything. Stay tuned...I also refinished my kitchen table.

Before and After Turquoise Dresser

Turquoise dresser

I had to use the same drawer pulls because they are not the standard 2" or 3". They are...like 2-3/4" And I will have to order them online. Until then I just painted them black...not my favorite, but at least my husband can open his drawers. Manly men like turquoise dressers. I sanded it a bit...just enough to scrape it up and then I primed it and put a coat of turquoise paint on it. I think it's called "garden pot" from Lowes. I distressed it with my sander and put an antique glaze over it. Much better! Have you painted anything turquoise lately?

Painter's Remorse

daughter's room redo

Have you ever had painter's remorse? And say to yourself, "Why didn't I just leave well enough alone?" Yes" Me too!

painted dresser

I hate that I painted this gorgeous green dresser...gray! The great thing about paint is that...it can be sanded off or re-painted! Have you ever had painter's remorse?

Cheap and Easy Owl Art

owl art painting

Well...easy for me. My daughter painted this loverly owl painting and I only helped a little bit. I heart it and can't wait to put it on my wall!

owl art painting

I started out by recycling an already painted canvas. I just slapped some turquoise paint on it...and sketched out an easy owl on a branch.

owl art painting

She did all the painting...I added a few highlights here and there and gave her a few tips. I will eventually get MY COW painting! Cheap and Easy! Go get your kids some canvases and let them PAINT!

Use what you have Party

birthday party

My youngest turned 8 last week. I sent out evite invitations 3 days before the party. I know...birthday faux pas. My excuse is that I was in California the week before and truth be told...I'm not a very good planner. My friend's know this and love me anyway. I didn't run out and buy a bunch of decorations...just used what I had. She wrote Happy Birthday on our chalkboard.

birthday party

I set up this portable table and threw some fabric over it. I hotglued the pink pom pom trim to each corner and called it a day. I did spend money on the food and paper products. Oh! and those tissue paper pom poms. A buck each for those babies. I wish I could leave them there all year to hide that ugly TV hole. I, also, used two pennant banner's, that I already had, for decorating.

birthday party

I made homemade pizza. When I took it out of the oven, it slid off on the oven door and folded in half like a taco. Just slid it back on the pan and unfolded it. Those girl's were none the wiser.

birthday party

Get your party on. I put brown craft paper over my coffee table for the nail station. Do you see my chair over there with the white throw over it...because it's been sitting in my house for about a year AND I still haven't made a slipcover for it. Like the shoe maker's kid's without any shoes.

birthday party

We had a painting contest. Guess what I made them paint? YEP...a cow! I figured I could find my Artist and commission her to do that larger canvas I want so badly!

birthday party

Of course nails had to be done. The older siblings helped with the younger ones while I watched. NOT one nail...did I paint.

birthday party

I love this idea and stole it from Lindsey. The girl's and dad had fun with this!

birthday party

We're not big cake eater's in our family. The Birthday Girl asked for Chocolate Chip Cookie Brownies with Ganache Frosting. I aim to please!
